Adding Accessories to Existing Inventorial Equipment

Follow the steps below to purchase capitalizable components or accessories for an existing piece of equipment owned by your department. To be eligible for capitalization, the value of the addition must be at least $5,000.

What to do How to do it

1. Complete a purchase requisition for the new item.

  1. Process a requisition for a purchase order, being sure to include the property number of the existing equipment to which the accessory will be added.
  2. To find the property number tags, either look on the equipment or find it in the Asset Management System (AMS).

2. Confirm that the value of the accessory has been added to the equipment in your inventory.

Check the AMS database to see that the equipment record reflects an increase in value by the dollar amount of the accessory. Allow approximately 30 days for processing.
